Another of the flowers at Charles Darwin's house! The word prompt was Illuminate, so I tried to use filters and textures to show ff the centre of the flower more. And choose an appropriate quote of course!!

Kim Klassen texture...again!!!!

OK, so I am slightly addicted to playing with textures now, LOL Especially Kim Klassen textures! I used Mixed Media on this, along with an artistic filter. I loved this photo...esp. the way Antoinette is holding Evie so firmly, keeping her from toppling over! It was taken in the garden at Charles Darwin's house. Thinking about it, I must get those self-portraits off Antoinette's camera, LOL!!

CT LO for Snickerdoodle Designs by Karen

For this page I used the painted wood layer styles on the frame, the b/g the leaves and the sprinkles. Use with or without the bevel for different effects! I teamed this photo with karen's newest kit The Artist In Me, as the colours on this paper were just perfect! I blew out the photo to really show up the bee inside the flower. I also used another paper from the kit just under the photo to give it some texture...I lowered the saturation a tad on that.
This photo was taken in the grounds of Charles Darwin's house.

CT LO for Snickerdoodle Designs by Karen using NEW Painted Wood Layer Styles

LOVED these new styles! The texture within them is amazing! I used one on the b/g layer and then multiplied my photo about 7 times! Each photo has a varying blending mode and/or opacity, so I could achieve the look I wanted...bit like a painting on wood with some of the texture of the wood coming through the paint!

Hummie's World - Course 2, Lesson 30

This was the one lesson I wasn't looking forward to, as it's so hard to find a realistic looking snowglobe! Even ones I've had in kits I wouldn't have used on a page!! I'm really pleased with how this turned out, anyway, despite it being a bit different to the instructions given, LOL! As usual I had to have a play and adapt things to my eye, LOL!
The writing says...Dear Marguerite, This is Charles Darwin's house which we visited last week...'

Hummie's World - Filters Class!!!!

I'm so excited this class has started! lesson 1 - Lens Flare! kept it subtle to be true to the original photo, and made myself leave it as is, with just a little reduced saturation and brightness added along with the lens flare...such fun!!!
This flower was growing in Charles Darwin's garden!

Hummie's World, Course 2, Class 29 - Colour Blocking

Not something I ever liked as a paper scrapper, and hadn't bothered with in digi either. but now I have I actually like it! I thought it would limit possibilities, but that's not the case! Mind youl deciding which papers to use and where to place them made this take longer than I'd anticipated, LOL! But then I couldn't leave it alone and had to try different blending modes on each piece of paper in the template spaces, LOL, and add a couple of splotches for some variation in colour! Still, I'm pleased with the end result!

The Sunday Creative - Orient

This word prompt threw me completely, as I'm really not into the oriental type kits, LOL, but then I started to think of it as a verb, and that helped a LOT!!!! Found this lovely quote, so went with that. This is one of my photos from today. We went to a new-to-us beach about 45 mins away, and I took hundreds of photos! This was a tiny part of one pic, but thanks to my lovely new SLR, I was able to take a little piece of photo and blow it up to make a whole page! I then played with some yummy textures from Kim Klassen (to which I am totally addicted now, LOL!) and had a good old play. Kim also put up a videocast for us today, which was inspirational! So I played some new ways too, and this is what i came up with! (have to say, have you tried the watercolour filter in PSE?! It's fantastic and makes a really really good representation of watercolour!!). Think I shall have to go back to a normal photo-page next week, or the balance of the book will be off!! Just for a little while, LOL!!

Holding Infinity - I Dressed Myself Challenge at Hummie's World

I was SO inspired by Hummie's artwork for this challenge that I decided I HAD to play tonight!
This is my page...created from 7 variations of this photo of a seagull in the sky, each with a different opacity, blending mode and filter applied! Then I added in the figures (it's actually dad's friend John and his friend walking through the park during the snow earlier this year!) and made the clouds look as if they were solid ground by adding a custom shadow the the couple! Wanted a meaningful quote and chose this one. Had a devil of a job deciding where to put it so it didn't detract from the picture, and hopefully have got that right! I even added texture to the text! With light effcts on one or two layers, as well as the people and the text, that about finished the piece!
Another one I may have to have printed!!!

Hummie's World Scrapping Goals Challenge #19 - 2 LOs with flowers

As I love working with flowers and leaves, this was an easy challenge for me! I used Rose's Love from JoeG Designs available at DigiScrapMania for these. And *drum roll please* I mademy first ever attempt at curling a corner of the paper...what do you think...? Does it look realistic?! Have never been taught how to do this, I just had a play!! I like it anyway!

Hummie's World, Course 2, class 28 - dingbats

The class showed how to make a vintage type frame usig dingbats to add decoration. I was so inspired by this and looking at the dingbat fonts I have installed (from my paper scrapping days - another addiction!!) that I decided to make the whole page from dingbats (well, almost!). The frame with flowers and the vase with flowers, the cat and the frame corner decorations are all dingbats! I added a b/g paper, and coloured in using a textured brush and leaving a bit of white here and there for that handpainted look! I used a frame in the kit behind the dingbat frame and just erased the bits I didn't need! Add some butterflies and my title and voila! Took ages erasing and brushing, but I like it! Made a change anyway!!!

The Sunday Creative - Ethereal

This word prompt gave me almost too much inspiration to handle, LOL, but this is what I settled for! I blended the photo with a lovely paper from Kubivet (Blog freebie) and used her fairy also to 'hold' the word prompt! Loved this quote from Wagner - the possibility of that really makes you think!!

CT LOs for Snickerdoodle Designs by Karen using The Artist In Me - NEW kit!!

wow! LOVED this kit! Especially the papers...I'm a true paper addict, both IRL and in digiland, LOL...so much so that I was almost 'paralysed' with excitement and creative inspiration, LOL!! So I calmed myself by making a page just for fun first. That's the last one! I'd seen the theory of it shown on the internet and decided to have a go! I made my photo into more of a work of art, and then created the scene. There are bits I'm not happy with about it, but it took me hours to get it to this stage, LOL! Big learning curve!

After that, I was able to settle into the LO of Meg and Evie - flippin posers, LOL!!!

Then I got another coffee and started in on what I knew was going to take a while - the LO of Evie with the Picasso quote! This is the sort of page I really love to do...taking my time, layering it all up, using normal elements in the kit as clipping masks and then changing blending modes, opacity, and skewing them into odd shapes! SO much fun!!!!

Massive thanks to Karen for putting in 2 masks!!! The bigger one I used to get the green around the walls of the 3rd LO, and the smaller on the LO of Evie of course!

The kit is now at Digital Design Den...Karen's store is HERE...make sure you get this kit, as it is FANTASTIC!!!

And another!

Antoinette, singin at Marguerite and Tony's wedding. She sang The Rose and sang it so beautifully there wasn't a dry eye in the Church! For one who usually tries to stay in the background, this truly was a magical moment!

There are 4 or 5 different patterns and textures all layered up with different blending modes and/or opacity changes under the photo! It doesn't look to intense on here...the trick is knowing when to stop, LOL!

In The Sweetness by JoeG Designs

I made the page first, unusually forme, ad then chose a photo...I was looking through all the wedding pics, knowing that I wanted to use the word Love as the title. This pic of Marguerite's wedding shoes just jumped right out at me, LOL! Supported by a photo of her actually wearing them, I hope this LO reveals just how Marguerite felt about these gorgeous shoes!!!

Hummie's World, Course 2 Class 27, Cutting Out Text and Using it!

Had fun doing this!

I wanted a more subtle effect on this page, given its nature, so: the cut out part is the more noticeable word Given on the photo/paper merge in the centre.
I didn't want a huge shadow in the hole, but did add a tiny one just for a bit more definition for you to see it's a hole!!!!!
(To get a larger shadow on the whole centre page bit, I made a duplicate and added the larger shadow to that underneath!! Had to rotate it to get the hole from the text elsewhere, and then erase a larger section than the text area took, so that the shadow wouldn't show in the hole of the top copy, if that makes sense, LOL!!!)
The cut out bit is the bigger, title Given under the flower sprig there...I changed the blending mode on it though to give more definition. I also used copies of the cut out, with diff blending modes, randomly on the centre pp, just for effect really!

I used In The Sweetness kit by JoeG Designs available at digiScrapMania HERE!

Which leads me on to some exciting news....Joanie (JoeG Designs) PMd me at DST to ask if I'd like to join her CT!!! Wow! That was exciting! As soon as I checked out her kits, I knew I'd have to say yes!!! They're gorgeous, and this one grabbed my eye straightaway, so I went ahead and bought it so I could use it without waiting, LOL!!!! Well, at that price, it could NOT be left there on the shelf!!!! The kit is HUGE and beautiful! Wonderful quality too! Go ahead and get it and see!

The other exciting thing to happen is that my new Canon EOS 100D SLR arrived late yesterday! Took it for its first outing today and it is fantastic! The quality of the images is amazing...thphoto on the LO of Antoinette below is one of them...cool, eh?!!! Think I'm going to enjoy using it!! I do need to re-learn all the stuff I once knew so I can play on manual and not just stay on auto all the time!! I did have fun with the sports setting today though...firing off shots so fast one after the other, it was as if a paparazzo were around, LOL!!! FUN!!!

OK, time for some munchies and TV before bed methinks!!
