A simple technique for this lesson but something I've not done before, and it got me scrapping a pic I probably wouldn't have got to yet!

This has been my thought process thisafternoon, LOL! I chose a good photo to work with, it seems, as the filter really worked well on it!!! The top one is my first try, done as the class was taught! Then I had another go and enlarged the photo, and I think this gives a much more obviously watercolour effect. Then I had to try again with different settings in the filter to make it all darker. Enlarging the photo again, I liked the effect and then changed a blending mode on one of the 4 layers of the photo to remove the colour. Brought in just some of the colour from the original photo to a level I liked. Then I used 2 papers by Hummie (FREE here for a llimited time only http://blog.hummiesworld.com/2011/02/fern-clyffe-state-park-illinois.html ) and changed the blending modes to use them like overlays and bring in a little of their gorgeous colours to the 'scene' I had in front of me!! I was going to leave it as a plain abstract, but then thought of putting a fairy or some such within the 'cave' that had appeared :) Looking through my stash I came across this gorgeous dragon by Creative Victorian Designs (Winter's Deep kit available here http://creativevictorian.com/boutique/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=129&products_id=1728 ) so went with that! The green fireflies (or sparkles with a gaussian blur added, LOL!) are from Bits n Bobs Babe-alicious kit available here http://exquisitescraps.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8_150&products_id=1684 .
Thanks so much to Hummie for making this class and inspiring me to play like this - I had SO much fun!!!
Bit of a new departure for me trying a page like this, LOL, but I loved the white dragon so much I had to get him in there somehow...so guarding the baby while she sleeps seemed appropriate...such a kindly looking dragon!!!
This is a humungously large kit with such beautiful papers and elements...you can grab it HERE from the CVD store :)
The first LO was made for the CT Challenge at Creative Victorian Designs, but then as I had a last minute concern about the wording at the start - should it be smile or sad - it occurred to me it's the perfect page to use for the strikethrough text lesson!
The 2nd page uses an inset technique, and the last I created a colour swatch from the photo and recoloured elements to match the pic! I also made my own brad, LOL! Yay!!!

LOVE this kit! And there is so much more in it than I've actually used!! The first page also utilises one of Aimee's new templates that are in store now with the Love Letters kits and styles - grab the lot HERE!
The 2 greeny LOs are made for my gorgeous niece, Meg, and her mum, my sister, Marguerite. Meg's having a horrid time at her new 2ndary school atm thanks to 3 *bleep* kids, so I wanted to make something for them to cheer them on!
Another one destined to be a canvas someday methinks:)
