The Sunday Creative - Word prompt: Nothing

Wow this word prompt threw me for a while as it's so....open! So I searched for a quote I liked first and took it from there!
I also remembered something I'd discovered by accident...if I add a stroke to the outer edge of a page and then add gaussian blur to it, I can get a soft, grungy feel instead of a hard frame-type edge!! LOVE THAT!!! LOL!!!

The Sunday Creative - Abundance

We had so much lavender in our little front garden this year, having bought tiny new plants when we put the house on the market back in April! Seemed appropriate for this word prompt!

The Sunday Creative - Comfort

This week's prompt was Comfort. With the Pope's visit underway, it seemed appropriate!

The Sunday Creative - Timeworn

This week's word was Timeworn. I had ideas of setting up a little scene for a photo, using the dried lavendar I have in my kitchen, but time got away from me - again! So I used a photo of some dead heads of flowers to represent this word!

The Sunday Creative

Another of the flowers at Charles Darwin's house! The word prompt was Illuminate, so I tried to use filters and textures to show ff the centre of the flower more. And choose an appropriate quote of course!!

The Sunday Creative - Orient

This word prompt threw me completely, as I'm really not into the oriental type kits, LOL, but then I started to think of it as a verb, and that helped a LOT!!!! Found this lovely quote, so went with that. This is one of my photos from today. We went to a new-to-us beach about 45 mins away, and I took hundreds of photos! This was a tiny part of one pic, but thanks to my lovely new SLR, I was able to take a little piece of photo and blow it up to make a whole page! I then played with some yummy textures from Kim Klassen (to which I am totally addicted now, LOL!) and had a good old play. Kim also put up a videocast for us today, which was inspirational! So I played some new ways too, and this is what i came up with! (have to say, have you tried the watercolour filter in PSE?! It's fantastic and makes a really really good representation of watercolour!!). Think I shall have to go back to a normal photo-page next week, or the balance of the book will be off!! Just for a little while, LOL!!

The Sunday Creative - Ethereal

This word prompt gave me almost too much inspiration to handle, LOL, but this is what I settled for! I blended the photo with a lovely paper from Kubivet (Blog freebie) and used her fairy also to 'hold' the word prompt! Loved this quote from Wagner - the possibility of that really makes you think!!

The Sunday Creative plus Orb making!!

Well, there's a bit of a story behind this one! Got up this morning, and my internet was down again (think the router's on its way out). So I opened up my PSE and thought I'd start my Sunday Creative page. Then my brain skipped back a day and remembered the orbs I'd been looking at at Digital Design Den. So then thought I'd have a play first! Of course, me being me, I didn't open up the instructions I'd d/l yesterday! I just had a play myself to see what I could come up with. First of all I used Snickerdoodle Designs by Karen Tree Bark Styles on just a filled layer. Then I added various effects and filters that come with PSE, and changed the colour until I was happy with it. Then I formed my orb. I loved the effect I had, and thought it looked a bit like the Earth. So then I used the colour replacement tool to add in green and some pale brown, some light rendering and voila!

Then I got to thinking that the round, full shape of the Earth fitted with this week's Sunday Creative word prompt - Shapely - nicely. So I then found a quote that I liked and reduced the opacity so it didn't detract too much from the space scene!

So, I ended up with a rather different page, but one I'm really pleased with!

Oh and I find it looks better from a distance...you get the full effect of the darkness within the b/g more that way!!

The Sunday Creative + Hummie's World Course 2 class 24 - over and under

I liked this quote for the word prompt 'naked', so went with that! I used the brooding, dark, somewhat threatening raven in the shadows to represent the naked truth. It can sometimes be hard to hear such truths, and they can be intimidating. At the top, the ray of light to represent the hope mentioned in the quote. The photo was taken at Walmer Castle, and as always, the word prompt is done using an invisible text technique that Hummie taught me, so it doesn't jump off the page!!

P.S. Looking at this posted, blogger is adding a grey/black border, but it makes it loko as if my flower is sticking out too far by accident! In reality, where the flower ends is the edge of the page!!

The Sunday Creative & Hummie's World classes combined!

Here are my pages for this! They were both taken at Walmer Castle. The top one is the forest walk. I love walking there...I can feel myself relaxing as soon as I step under the huge trees, into the cool and the dark. The spots of light that come dancing through the leaves are almost magical! I feel totally connected with nature and God there, and completely apart from all the hustle bustle and stresses of the 'real world'!

The second photo is to illustrate the word 'Traditional'. To me this generally means something that has been around a long time and is established. Hence the photo of the castle, and the crown to represent the monarchy.

These are also for classes 21 & 22 of course 2 at Hummie's World - to justify text and to punch out a shape allowing the underneath to show through resp.

The Sunday Creative - Week 2 - Denim

Well, what an eye-opener this one was, LOL! When I saw the prompt 'denim' I thought 'what on earth can I get from that?!' Then I saw DD1's purse, so got the photo. Then I found a great quote which I loved! Then I wanted just one little embellishment, and found this gorgeous butterfly brush...which set my mind off on another path! Thinking of the butterfly effect, and how, if each of us did one thing each day as the quote describes, how this would spread out across the world and how it would affect people! Pretty amazing thought!!
That said, it is late and I need sleep, LOL, so if it's too random, I apologise!!!!

The Sunday Creative - Wk 1 - Open

Well, I was inspired by my cutting paper class at Hummie's World to have a go at 8.5"x11" size for a change! Don't think I've ever scrapped this size before, so I decided that I will do all my Sunday Creative pages in this size! Then, I did Lesson 18 of Course 2 at Hummie's this evening, and, when I saw the photo I wanted to use foe the Sunday Creative prompt, I knew that this text technique would work GREAT with that pic!! So this page is also for my lesson 18 LO!! How's that for killing 2 birds with 1 stone?!!!!
I plan to one day print off (i.e. have printed, LOL) all the Sunday Creative pages and have them together in an album. I'm going to use this format of a picture and a quote plus the prompt word, and try and make this album personally inspirational through the photos and quotes (I LOVE quotes!!!).
The paper is from SnickerDoodleDesigns by Karen - Smooth sailing kit, and the hummingbird from Karen's Outside My Window kit. I liked how it looked coming off the photo, and the vibrancy of its colours fitted well with the fantastic quality of this wonderful photo (taken by me, LOL!!!). Photo taken at Hever Castle. All the boats are named after Henry VIII's wives, and you can hire them out cheaply for an hour at a time to row yourself around the lake!
