An evening of fun!

OK, so how much fun can one person have with some brushes and some Textures?!!!
First I had a play with Tea Stain 1 brushes from Creative Victorian Designs and managed to get a nice subtle effect which, when paired with a couple of 'artistic' filters, gave an image I really liked.
Then I received Kim Klassen's email and thought I'd have a go on this photo with those! I used Granny's Cupboard and Greydaystone, as well as 3 layers of the photo, 2 B&W and one coloured, plus a whole range of blending modes, LOL, and absolutely love the effect I got there too! I resisted the temptation to brighten up the photo, as when Dd1 went on this beach hack, when they returned home, the clouds were really black, and they did get wet...from the rain as well as splashing in the sea, LOL :)
Thanks Netta of CVD & Kim Klassen for your inspiration!!!

Hummie's Gratitude Giveaways...pattern and texture

LOVED playing with this stuff! I inverted the pattern to get white snowflakes instead of black, and rather than use someone else's paper, I stuck to just Hummie's texture and added a solid white and a solid orangey layer and changed the blending modes to make it all work together!
Great fun! Check out Hummie's blog to see more of these gorgeous patterns!

Kim Klassen catch ups!!

Here are my homework pieces! LOVE the effects the textures give. the old barn photo was provided by Kim for experimentation and using one of her fabulous 'recipes' for textures and blending modes. I then used this recipe just slightly changed for the bottom photo!
Am loving this course!!!!

Hummie's World, Course 2, Lesson 42 - Self-Installing Plug ins!

Had to download and install a plug in for this - who'd have thought I could do that?!!!!!
I wanted to make this for Julia. Although Donnie is still with us, I wanted to create a happy page with a positive thought attached, that she might be able to come back to as and when.

Julia, I hope you like this, and it doesn't make you too sad right now! And I hope you'll be able to come back to this afterwards and enjoy it!
Love

Hummie's World, Filter Challenge - Glass

LOVED playing with this!
Added a texture and loved the effect but then couldn't see the glass effect! So I duplicated the photo and added it in overlay mode above the texture. Then I went back and added glass blocks to just the background of the bottom photo...LOVE the added depth that gives to it, esp. around her chin!! I used frosted on all of the 2 photos initially btw.

The Sunday Creative - Word prompt: Nothing

Wow this word prompt threw me for a while as it's so....open! So I searched for a quote I liked first and took it from there!
I also remembered something I'd discovered by accident...if I add a stroke to the outer edge of a page and then add gaussian blur to it, I can get a soft, grungy feel instead of a hard frame-type edge!! LOVE THAT!!! LOL!!!

The Sunday Creative - Abundance

We had so much lavender in our little front garden this year, having bought tiny new plants when we put the house on the market back in April! Seemed appropriate for this word prompt!

LSNED - Day 11 - Saturday

I ttok this photo on one of our first trips out with my new DSLR...the kids are experts at taking SPs with their little caleras, so thought I'd have a go while I was waiting for them to return from their cliff-top walk! out of many many shots, I got one I could bear to look at, LOL! So thought I'd use it for Saturday's prompt, as I had a hair appt. I was so pleased with the cut, that I wanted to do a page about it, LOL!!

The Sunday Creative - Timeworn

This week's word was Timeworn. I had ideas of setting up a little scene for a photo, using the dried lavendar I have in my kitchen, but time got away from me - again! So I used a photo of some dead heads of flowers to represent this word!

Hummie's World, Filters Class, Lesson 3 - Colour Halftone

Same photo, same filter, just 2 ways of doing it! The top one of for my book of these lessons' LOs and is 6x4. It was created using the shape tool. The bottom was just for fun really and used the brush tool. Love the different effect, but I need way more time for playing with this as I feel I've only scratched the surface of what's possible!
