My Day 2 page - about the weather we're having...weird, weird weather! I honestly can't remember it snowing for such a prolonged period for years!!

Really enjoyed a good couple of hours playing with masks and gorgeous stash to create this page!!!

JYC 2010 - 1st December

Well, it meant a REALLY late night, but I got it done! After spending about an hour going through all my digi stash selecting templates to use for each day (as I'd never have enough time to design my own pages!) I designed my own page!!!!!

I've decided to liberate myself from all the note-taking this year, so there will be no credits unfortunately...I have so much digi stash, and, much as I appreciate it all, if I were to write down everything I use, whilst picking from here, there and everywhere in Picasa, LOL, I really would not have time to create. If you see your stash used on one of my pages, know that's it's my very favourite stash and I'm grateful to all the designers out there who create such beautiful images for us to play with! Thank you.

SO! I sit here when I should be in bed, with the snow falling outside and Carols playing!!

SOOC and just cropped a bit...taken at Margate Cemetary! LOVE how the individual shapes of the flakes can be seen! Shame it's all melted now!

Hummie's World, Filters Challenge, lesson 12 - bas relief

Interesting filter this one, but one I had to use in a very subtle way to be able to live with the result, LOL! This has 2 layers of photo...one with the bas relief filter applied and an overlay blending mode. Beneath that is a textured plain paper from Weeds and Wildflowers - Cherish kit - and above is the original photo with a multiply blending mode. This gave an old photo kinda feel to the page and yet allowed a little of the colours of the original photo to show through!

Hummie's Gratitude Giveaways...pattern and texture

LOVED playing with this stuff! I inverted the pattern to get white snowflakes instead of black, and rather than use someone else's paper, I stuck to just Hummie's texture and added a solid white and a solid orangey layer and changed the blending modes to make it all work together!

Kim Klassen Skinny Mini - B&W, Textured B&W

Well, technically not just B&W, LOL...these were converted to B&W and then a little of the colour of the original allowed to show through!!

Have loved playing with my photos during this class...shall have to choose what comes next now!!

Kim Klassen catch ups!!

Here are my homework pieces! LOVE the effects the textures give. the old barn photo was provided by Kim for experimentation and using one of her fabulous 'recipes' for textures and blending modes. I then used this recipe just slightly changed for the bottom photo!

Am loving this course!!!!

Hummie's World, Filter Challenges 10 & 11 - Stamp & Motion Blur

Had such fun playing with these! The top one has 6 layers of the photo, each with different blending modes and 3 with different colours and the stamp filter applied! The 2nd has 4 layers of the photo, with different angles and ranges of motion blur applied, as well as 2 textures by Kim Klassen (warm grunge and live, laugh, love) and a solid black layer in overlay mode for good measure, LOL!

Hummie's World, Course 2, Lesson 42 - Self-Installing Plug ins!

Had to download and install a plug in for this - who'd have thought I could do that?!!!!!

I wanted to make this for Julia. Although Donnie is still with us, I wanted to create a happy page with a positive thought attached, that she might be able to come back to as and when.

Julia, I hope you like this, and it doesn't make you too sad right now! And I hope you'll be able to come back to this afterwards and enjoy it!

Warm grunge and Live Love Laugh Textures by Kim Klassen, and several brushes, one of which was dance of the flowers.

Hummie's World, Filter Challenge - Mezzotint

I was hoping this photo would work well with this filter, and I wasn't disappointed!

Loved playing with this! I used several layers of the photo, added a gradient map layer to change it to a sharp b&w, then changed some blending modes, including one layer using 'dissolve' to give an added snowy effect in the sky! I selected the b/g to add a medium dotted mezzotint, and then long strokes on the tree and on the 2 border layers - this really helped them merge into the page and continue the texture to the edges!

Hummie's World, Course 2, Lesson 38 - Title Highlight

A page for Antoinette! I used papers and an element from Girlboheme Studios' Autumn Daydream kit and changed the blending modes to add a tint and a bit of texture. Then I layered up two textures. One from Hummie @ Hummie's World - the Day 1, 30 Days of Gratitude Texture - and warm grunge from Kim Klassen. Other elements from Girlboheme's Sail Sail Away kit.

I loved this photo - look at both their eyes!!!

Hummie's World, Filter Challenge - Glass

LOVED playing with this!

Added a texture and loved the effect but then couldn't see the glass effect! So I duplicated the photo and added it in overlay mode above the texture. Then I went back and added glass blocks to just the background of the bottom photo...LOVE the added depth that gives to it, esp. around her chin!! I used frosted on all of the 2 photos initially btw.

Hummie's World, Course 2, Lesson 36 - Blurred Background

Not the easist technique to make a natural-looking photo with, but GREAT for a more special-effects-type pic!! had a good play and settled on this degree of blur. I used the first giveaway by Hummie during her 30 Days of Gratitude - a lovely gentle texture - YUM! I used it on the photo layered up 2x with diff blending modes, and then again on the b/g paper to produce this more dramatic effect, esp. around the edges! Thanks for that Hummie!

It's so good to have started to catch up with my Hummie's World classes!! Slow but sure wins the day!! That's what I keep telling myself anyway!!!
