ARt Journal Caravan 2012 - Page 13

I was inspired by an image I found on google of eyelashes with a tear...no reason in particular, just the sheer artiness of it, LOL, so used a stock pic of eyelashes as the basis for this page. It seemed to suggest mystery, not being sure somehow...
Decided to go with making one side darker with the dragon looming and one side lighter, with the angel appearing, for pretty obvious reasons I think, LOL...which is winning, dark or light?!!!!!!

AJC - Page 6

Well, I went on a bit of brain journey with this one, searching for a definition that inspired an image in my head. I think it was after seeing the definition absurd that I ended up with this quote...which may seem odd as it's Mother Teresa, LOL!!

It's what she said...the feeling of being unwanted. That just seemed to absurd, sad and absurd, that in such a large world, filled with people, with more ways to communicate than ever before, and more people doing charitable work and good deeds, that there should still be people inhabiting this world who feel unloved.

I don't doubt it, not at all...it just seems absurd...wrong...that in this day and age people should feel like that....is anyone with me?!!!!

I wanted a bleak feeling to the page, but still with a feeling of hope to it. Hence the dark bird - feelings of being lonely, unwanted, unloved perhaps - swooping down on unseen people and lives; then hopefully a feeling of lightness in the 'sky'...textures across the top and bottom that (to me!!) suggest it could be sea not sky...just a little hint at things not always being as they seem! Is a person I'm in contact with either IRL or online actually as happy or feeling as good about themselves as they appear...?

Maybe too much thinking, LOL, but this is where it all ended up!!!

Art Journal Caravan 2012 - February Adventure Quest

This quest really threw me at first, but something just came to me today! In my head I saw the changing of myself from when I started last year's Caravan, not knowing where my art would go - or how, LOL! - into what is happening now with me creating pieces I really love and some other people actually like too!! The dark is the old me - possessing potential but not knowing what to do with it, and the bright colours represent the me now!! I think this may be one of those pages that I love now but am not as keen on further down the track, but am going to stick with it anyway, LOL!!! TFL!

I think I was over-thinking this, LOL, and worrying that my mojo has gone walkabouts while I have this head cold...almost walked away from the PSE again today, LOL, but then decided to simplify things and LOVE what came out of that!
It's a mystery for sure, rotfl!!!!

Art Journal Caravan 2012 - Page 3

Had fun trying to get an image in my head in order to illustrate this word!
Then saw some words something about talking to self being the soul having a conversation..ugh can't remember it exactly now, sorry! Anyways, that sent me off down a path looking at illustrating the soul, LOL, which led to a feeling of using light and dark...the soul enclosed.
Of course with the mind map still in my head as well, I just loved these words about thinking :)
So there it is! The inner workings (summarised and considerably shortened, LOL!!) of my mind!!!!

Tried to use some more optimistic words than are usually associated with this word!! (Why go into something to test the waters? Go into it to make waves).
Less caution, more forging ahead methinks, LOL :)

Art Journal Caravan - May Adventure Quest - Portals - Page 4

Well, here it is, the last of my set of 4! I've so much enjoyed making these, and the more I've done the more it's helped cement in my mind what I'm doing here, LOL :)

The 2nd warm page after the 2 cool pages in the set, this has the most vibrant colours, and is a bit glittery/sparkly/golden and shiny, LOL, as it's me, going through my portal...a celebration!!!
I was inspired by this... http://www.yourgoalbook.com/setting-and-achieving-goals as it seemed to portray the right message of being on top of the world, finding my way, and achieving what I wanted to achieve!

Putting the light and shade on the lady was one of the most frustrating things I've done, LOL, trying to get the smudges how I liked them...hopefully what I've managed works!!! Can't wait to see what next month's Quest is going to be now :)

Art Journal Caravan - May Adventure Quest - Portals - Page 3

The third in what will be a series of 4. I decided that as the first 2 were very cool colours, the next 2 should be warmer :) I was inspired by this page http://www.dailypainters.com/paintings/50432/Approaching-Storm-pastel-painting-bench-couple-ocean-sky-tree-silhouettes/ not that you can tell much, LOL, more the thinking behind it I think :)

So I've searched and explored in the first 2 pages, now it's time to approach what's coming :) Only one lady this time, to give a calmer feel, and more positive as well...that I'm getting closer to my goal (portal!)...

Art Journal Caravan - Adventure Quest - Portal Page 2

the 2nd in my set :)
LOVED making this! I used a lot of brushes this time, which was fun! My first page was 'searching' now I've moved on to Exploring (as I get to know this new art form!). I tried to keep a similar style of page, as these are going to hang in a row on one wall eventually :) I took my original inspiration from here... http://www.mumblesfineart.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=60&osCsid=e8c696cbe3a35a36f8a3b45d6e36bfad ...but it evolved a lot!!
