This is a follow really to my page the other day - Your silence will not save you - about people's attitudes...putting a more positive spin on things! If people could just get more involved in any way they can - even just talking; it doesn't have to mean big sweeping gestures! Just taking the time to actually listen and engage in conversation with someone...it can mean so much! TFL! Art Journal Caravan - Page 50

I decided to go with the theme of review here, and ty to sum up a little of what I have discovered along the way with the Caravan! Looking back, I think some of my best pages were ones where either something had happened that inspired a feeling within me, or where the quote I found resonated because I had lived through something similar. So I chose these words for myself! TFL! Several thoughts behind this one...over the past months, and all the worry we've had with DD1's knee and operations, physio etc etc it's become evident that mostly people don't like to talk about that kinda stuff very much...they may ask how things are going but then the conversation quickly moves on! Plus, I think seeing the things that are happening both here and around the world has been quite shocking, and yet no many people are capable of talking about what is perceived as politics, although really is not! And especially at this time of year, nobody is supposed to talk about sad things that are happening in case it breaks into the happiness that it seems almost compulsory for everyone to feel!! Honestly, I'm not a bah humbug type, LOL, and I do love Christmas - just not for all the froth and materialism and commercialism! I also like a good conversation IRL about things that matter and it is becoming harder and harder to find people who want to bother!! Yet it seems to me that no matter how much people try to NOT talk about anything, it won't stop bad things happening all around them, and one day these things may well affect them directly. Hopefully not, but at least I've had some tiny preparation for what has happened with DD1 and the stable owners treating her the way they have by being the more serious kinda person I probably am! Hope that doesn't come across as too nasty...I just worry for some people close to me who tend to think and act as though if they don't talk about a problem, and try to ignore it, then it doesn't actually exist! Sadly that won't always work!!

I think the word cling usually has rather negative feelings attached to it, so I loved these words that give it a more positive spin!
This is one of my own pics of my Advent candles...I loved it so much as it was, I almost didn't texture it up, but when I added a second layer of texture, I loved the effect!

After the few months we have had with DD1 after her injury, sometimes waking up each morning with such a feeling of dread, I thought this quote was so true!
Things are on the up now injury wise and school-wise as well, (after DD1's new school wanting us to provide copies of her appt. card each time she gopes to physio and hydrotherapy because her attendance figures are not as high as the Government targets would wish for! The system does not allow for children to have any serious illness or injury - so more fighting for us against this insult!) but there is still a long way to go - DD will prob have her second operation to reconsruct her anterior cruciate ligament around February next year - IF the knee is more freely moving and flexible backwards and in straightening. Thanks for all the good wishes and Prayers - it means so much to us all xoxo

Not sure how this one came about, LOL! Think I saw a landscape in the piece first with a face's features showing through, so enhanced the face, and added my camel, as if he's walking along a path there...think my subconscious thinking here was about how I'd like to *use* my art as well as just *make use* of it for pleasure....hmmmm! Well, it is what it is, but I like it anyways!!!

Here's my page for this word...went with the theme rather than the actual word, as I loved these words so much! They conjured up such a strong picture in my mind!!
Think I must be a bit calmer...DD1 had her first physio since the op today and came straight home and started to weight bear on her leg that has been non-weight bearing for six weeks now...was very brave, as the muscles have weakened a lot, and it collapses quite quickly...she is one determined girl!

I was sitting here creating with the 9/11 service on the TV next to me, and this is what I produced from the feelings that inspired in me.

It's one of my simpler pieces, LOL, but there's more going on than meets the eye! It's an oil paint b/g blended with a paper, and duplicated with different blending modes. Then I blended a stock photo of a face onto an appropriately shaped part of the oil paint design.
Of course my camel is in there too to help me create my 'masterpiece'!

Now I know what this looks like to me, but if you prefer to see an angel that's fine too!! Basically, on this day of all, it seemed fitting to have a piece that encourages us all to go forward in a positive way... TFL!

AJC 2011

Well, DD1 has had her first op and it went as well as it could...we have to wait and see if the badly torn cartilage will knit together again after the repair, as it was such a raggy tear. The surgeon only even attempted a repair as he knew she has to have another operation in a couple of months. otherwise he would just have chopped the torn piece off. He gives it a 25% chance of healing. If not, it will be removed when they next operate on the cruciate ligament. This will of course give her a higher chance of arthritis in her early 20s than if it repairs. Needless to say eveything is crossed, prayers are being offered and candles lit!
Again, everyone in London was SO kind, it really did help the situation.

I'd like to thank everyone on here who has left me such lovely comments, I've been sat here in tears reading them all on my various pages...you'll never know how much they have been appreciated.

Anyway, although I feel like making dark, brooding pages, LOL, I really told myself that I needed to make a calmer page, and I think I did it!!!

TFL and thanks so much for all your lovely comments!
Love,
Bernie x

I decided to go with some brightness to cheer us all up here, LOL, and in the light of what we've had happening, this quote seemed perfect.
We have been shown so much kindness by so many people - online friends, FB friends and friends of friends, and even complete strangers when we went to London last weeks for DD's pre-assessment. The coach driver, the minicab stand worker and driver, the lady on reception in the hospital, the Porter who wheeled us through the staff tunnels and took us in the staff lift to get us where we needed to be instead of turning us out into the rain to get to the other building, the Plaster room staff, the Consultants who seemed to have all the time in the world for us (a new experience!!), people in McDonald's afterwards who gave up their ground floor seats for us, seeing we couldn't get up or down stairs easily, nor with the wheelchair! The coach driver home and all the people queuing to get on the coach who let us go first with DD in the wheelchair! Honestly, it didn't stop all day!! Still can't quite believe it!! So this def needed to be a more positive page!
Thanks to everyone who has/is praying for DD and us, or who has sent good wishes......it really is so appreciated!
